HINAGUM
from Sorsogon with love


     Whenever you travel to another town or place, you should try their food and desserts.  Today, I am proud to present you one of my favorite dessert that I love in Sorsogon, my home place. A serving of brown cake made of rice called Hinagum (or hinagom).

     Hinagum  (or hinagom) recipe is simple, it’s made from freshly harvested rice that’s pounded, roasted in a pan, then pounded again in a mortar mixed with coconut meat and sugar before wrapping in leaves. It tastes quite similar to espasol of Laguna.

     Here in Sorsogon – 1 pack of hinagom cost between Php 5.00 to Php 20.00 per pack. There are several ways that a Hinagum is presented, I saw round shaped hinagum and a elongated shape among others. Hinagum is best accompanied with chocolate, coffee or salabat (ginger tea). In addition, the rice dessert is also popular in nearby Samar Island too.

10 STOC Survival Tips      I am one of the STOC survivor last year until now. To give you a background, being in the STOC is very hard, especially if you have terror teachers. Also, it will pressure you, because high expectations will be given unto you.  In case you want to enter this curriculum, I have some advice for you to survive. 1.  Study well 2.  Stay focused 3. Be  positive and Smile 4. Be honest 5. Have time management 6. Make friends and have fun 7. Be active and share your talent 8.  Give your 100% in everything you do 9.
